Real Estate CRESAR vs CPE Seminar

Some people are asking for the differences between a CRESAR (or Comprehensive Real Estate Seminar and Review) and a CPE (Continuing Professional Education) seminar. Let’s clarify things today…

A Comprehensive Real Estate Seminar and Review (CRESAR) is for people who wish to prepare for the PRC’s Real Estate Brokers Licensure Exam. Some CRESAR providers are offering 120-hour CRESARs in Metro Manila and also in Cebu.

A Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Seminar is usually for those who have already passed the real estate brokers exam, and would like to renew their license.

In some cases, some people want to register as licensed real estate brokers with the PRC without having to take another real estate brokers exam, and they need to earn a certain number of CPE credit units. That’s why they attend CPE Seminars.

On the other hand, real estate salespersons do not need to take an exam. In order to get accredited by the PRC, however, they need to earn 120 hours of real estate training.

We’ve heard that real estate salespersons can earn those 120 hours either by attending CRESARs or CPE Seminars.

Please note that there are some review service providers who offer a seminar which they call CRESAR and CPE at the same time.

Here are things to ask the service provider before you sign up for their CRESAR or CPE Seminar:

  1. Are you accredited by the PRC?
  2. Will you issue a notarized Certificate of Completion?
  3. Will the PRC recognize the CRESAR units or CPE units that I have earned by attending your seminar?
  4. For aspiring real estate brokers – Will I be allowed by the PRC to take the real estate brokers’ exam on the basis of CRESAR hours that I attended in your CRESAR?
  5. For those who have already passed the real estate brokers exam prior to July 2009 – Will the PRC credit me for the CPE seminar hours that I attended in your CPE seminar, so that I may register with the PRC as a licensed real estate broker, without having to take the exam again?
  6. For real estate salespersons – Will the PRC accredit me on that basis of the real estate training that I acquire from either your CRESAR or CPE Seminar?

People are wondering: Will there are a CRESAR or CPE/CEP Seminar held outside Metro Manila (e.g., Cebu, Davao, Laguna)?

We will publish online the schedules of various CRESAR (or CRESR) review service providers as soon as we get hold of their updated announcements.

Alternatively, you may get in touch with the realtors’ board or similar organization of real estate brokers in your area, and ask them if they will be sponsoring a PRC-accredited CRESAR or CPE Seminar in your area.
