Real Estate Brokers and Skinny Kids

Do you have children? Do you want them to grow up big and strong, or thin and weak? The good news is that you have full control on the well-being of your children, particularly if you build a successful career in real estate.

Here’s what Zig Ziglar said about people in sales…

Timid salespeople have skinny kids.

It makes sense, doesn’t it?

If you want to succeed in sales, whether it’s in real estate or any other industry, you have to go for it! 🙂

The fact is not everyone is cut out for sales.

Not everyone can become a competent real estate salesperson or a real estate broker, in the same way that not everyone can become a competent accountant, lawyer, doctor, or even a street sweeper.

Not everyone, that is, unless everyone is willing to go for it!

You have to know your strengths, and make the most of your talents.

We’ve met aspiring real estate brokers who meet the challenges of preparing for the real estate brokers’ exam. They use words like “Kaya ko ‘to!” or they adopt a can-do attitude because they truly are interested in succeeding in real estate.

They want to provide a better future for their family, and they believe that they have what it takes to succeed in real estate.

They reflected and took stock of what their talents and abilities are, saw that there was a match with networking, selling and real estate, and then they said: “Go For It!”

On the other hand…

We’ve also encountered people who only think they want to get involved in real estate, but who do not strongly feel that this is what they want to do.

Some of the words they use or sentences they say are:

  • It’s too expensive – even if they have the chance to earn more than what they will invest.
  • It’s too hard.
  • It’s too tiring.
  • I’m too old.
  • I’m not good looking enough.
  • Di ako marunong mag-English.
  • Di na ako bata.
  • Kulang ang pera ko.
  • Other sentences that mean: “Umpisa pa lang, talo na ako.”

Now ask yourself: What words usually come out of your mouth?

If you have a winner’s attitude, if you have a mindset of abundance, if you are sincerely grateful for all the blessings you currently have (and will receive), if you have the passion for success, and if you believe you can succeed in real estate, then go and become an amazing real estate salesperson or real estate broker! 🙂

Story: Ang Broker Na Hindi

Ricardo (not his real name) studied for the real estate brokers’ exam in the past and got a 78% rating in the exam. He secured his license (via the DTI), yet even to this day, does not sell any type of property.

At least, not directly, that is.

Why did he even bother to take the time and spend money to become a licensed real estate broker? His goal was to network with other brokers so that they could do joint ventures, because Ricardo recognized his strength in negotiating joint ventures.

He doesn’t like to walk long hours under the sun, or hand out flyers, or help potential clients sort out their family disputes over land, or find buyers of rent-to-own projects.

Ricardo does not like to do what real estate agents or brokers usually do.

But he loves connecting with people who are serious about pursuing a successful career in sales. And that’s why he wanted to become a licensed real estate broker.

Today, he is actively expanding his sales network in real estate and in other industries.

What about you? Why do you want to become a broker? Why do you want to pass the real estate brokers’ licensure exam in March 2011?

Please pause for a moment and answer those questions…

Do you have the answers now? Good!

Remember, you cannot have EVERYTHING in life.

But you can have ANYTHING you want… if you’re willing to pay the price.

Sa madaling salita: Marami po ba kayong dahilan, o marami ba kayong paraan?

Good luck to all dedicated aspiring real estate brokers, particularly those who dream big AND take action to bring yourselves closer to your goals! 😀
